Our Story
Somewhere between old-school athletics and southern practicality.
Redshirt Limited started the same way most good things do:
as an idea that stayed around longer than expected.
We’ve always liked things with a little history to them — old uniforms, faded lettering, campus traditions, equipment that somehow lasted decades longer than it should have.
Not because they were perfect.
Because they were used.
That’s really the whole idea behind the brand.
We make clothes and headwear that feel lived-in without feeling careless.
Classic without becoming cliche.
Intentional without trying too hard.
There’s a lot of tradition in sports and southern culture worth keeping around.
There’s also a lot that deserves to loosen up a little.
We’re interested in the middle ground.
In college sports, a redshirt year is when a student-athlete sits out a season -- practicing every day, waiting for their moment. No stats. No spotlight. Just work.
RL is named for that year.
Earned. Still here.
And trying not to overcomplicate things.
What we're actually trying to do
We make headwear (and maybe other things on occasion) that feel lived-in without feeling careless.
Classic without becoming cliche.
Southern without turning into a caricature.
Thoughtful without taking ourselves to serious.
We're building Redshirt Limited carefully. Just like a Redshirt athlete.
A little slower.
A little more intentionally.
And hopefully in a way that lasts.
Thanks for being here.
The powers that be may be doing away with the redshirt year. But some traditions are bigger than the rules that try to erase them.
Redshirt Limited is committed to keeping that spirit alive — the extra season, the earned patience, the work done when nobody is watching. We believe in making room to grow, honoring the long way around, and carrying forward the traditions that built us.
Because heritage isn't something you hang on a wall. It's something you stand for.
